A couple of hours around Camden Lock

A very cold couple of hours around Camden Lock in mid January 2017. Although it was a bright and sunny day. The light appeared to be very hard and getting the correct exposure was a challenge. Camera used Olympus Pen F and the 12mm lens.
I worked in the area when there was light industry and the every day attire was a pair of overalls covered in dust (that was 30 yrs ago). Now it has been sanitised, less attractive and boring. Some may disagree….And say…Hey its a fun place…Its eclectic…..Hmmmm ?? It use to be. Personally all I see is a tourist trap. Maltby St Market in south London has a better feel, get there early though.

Colourful shops plying their wares. The road has a slight incline this leads to the small bridge over the canal where the lock is situated. The red cranes are working on the new Hawley Wharf development.

The market has various sections for you to explore and root around.

  1. That took me back to my twelve years in Camden. Mint teas late at night at the market’s Arabic bar; browsing through the secondhand DVD films, and watching the weird and wonderful people who frequent the place.
I had some happy times there, it has to be said.
Cheers mate, thanks for the memories.
    Pete.

    1. Hi, we came out of Mornington Crescent tube station and walked up Camden High St. Duly noting all the changes and…Hey! Where has that gone and look whats in its place ! Although I lived and worked on top of Camden Town I never really socialised there, I was a West End boy.

  2. Hello and thanks for your comment. I would like to have done more. But the place is so busy rather a like a penguin colony people shuffling around its had to compose without constantly getting bumped.
